The Armored Grub is a Grub enemy in Plazma Burst: Forward to the Past that is more powerful than its basic counterpart, but less powerful than its more advanced version. Like the other two Grubs, the Armored Grub is harvested by the Human Soldiers on Mars for fighting, but for some reason it fights Humans instead of protecting them. The Armored Grub was introduced to the player in level 5 of the Plazma Burst: Forward to the Past campaign, and then appears in levels 6 and 7, at which point it is replaced by the Elite Grub.

These Grubs are completely silver and gray other than some spots of blue along with their red visor. They have a silver mouth guard with some slots for speaking although what they actually say is unknown. They have a similar backpack to the original Grub, but it has blue lights instead of red and no antenna. Visually, the Armored Grub is almost identical to the Elite Grub with the exception of the head and some coloring. Compared to their lesser counterparts, this Grub has much more armor and can survive heavier attacks.

Weapons Variety

Arm Cannon

It appears that this is the only weapon that any Grub can carry. The Armored Grub is seen carrying dual single-shot versions of the Arm Cannon in the first levels where it is seen, and is then later seen carrying Rocket Launchers in level 6 and the Ray Rifle TCoRR in level 7.

Voice lines

The Armored Grub shares its voice lines with the Grub and the Elite Grub. It is possible the Grubs are voiced by Ruslan Chertenkov, however this is no longer confirmable.

Trivia

  • Armored Grubs seem to be meant for fighting, unlike their weaker counterparts.
  • Armored Grubs were added to Plazma Burst 2 as part of version 1.28.
  • Prior to version 1.32, these units did not have a unique name in Plazma Burst 2, and the level editor simply referred to them as "Armored Grub Blue."
