The Civil Security is a major enemy faction in Plazma Burst 2. It is a large security organization made up of soldiers based on Earth. This faction is an enemy of the protagonists and the Usurpation Forces. They are the third type of humans seen in the series, behind the protagonists and the Human Soldiers of the first game. The Civil Security are the most common enemy faction encountered by the Marine in Plazma Burst 2, and in addition to this, they also possess advanced weaponry, and manufacture the majority of the weapons and vehicles seen in the campaign. The Civil Security, while it is known to be a security force, has a large amount of soldiers and weapons for a regular private security company, which implies some level of relation with Earth's government. The Civil Security had some sort of connection with Correction Nine before it was shut down, as Civil Security Bosses in Level 40 are carrying the Correction Nine's weapons, Rayguns are seen used by Civil Security Bosses and Heavies, and Correction Nine Grenades are carried by many Civil Security personnel. It has been stated that factions like the Civil Security bought Correction Nine equipment after the faction's collapse.

Ranks

There are currently four known ranks in the Civil Security forces in the campaign, with the fifth not being seen in the campaign. The ranks are in ascending order as follows:

Civil Security Lite

The basic soldier of the Civil Security, these soldiers make up the bulk of the Civil Security Forces. They wear a small, round circular-shaped helmet, and have thin armor. They have fast movement, comparable to the Civil Security Ghost. Lites tend to use the Pistol CS-Pro and Assault Rifle CS-RC, but may appear with more advanced weaponry, like the Lite Railgun v01 CS-HShot. Some may even be encountered with no weapons; only PSI Blades. If they carry swords, it is advised to watch out for ranged enemies behind them. Lites are fast, so shooting them with slow projectiles can be difficult. Most of them are encountered in groups, along with Heavies and Bosses. If encountered in groups, it is advised to use explosives like the Rocket Launcher CS-LitBro, CS-BNG and grenades.

Civil Security Heavy

Heavies are of higher rank than the Civil Security Lites, and serve as heavy troopers for the faction. They wear a helmet with a slitted visor, and their helmet points backwards, in addition to large, bulky armor which slows them down. Heavies use the more advanced weapons that the Civil Security are in possession of, such as the CS-BNG, Heavy Railgun v04 CS-OneSOneK, and the Plasmagun CS-Bloom. Although their armor heavily limits their movement, Heavies take less knockback from projectiles and explosives, and are much more stable, which gives them a small edge over the Civil Security Boss. They are seen using more heavy weaponry as the campaign progresses, and they are even seen using Ray Gun C-01ys.

Civil Security Ghost

Civil Security Ghost are cloaked, stealthy troops which are not commonly seen. They feature similar armor to normal Civil Security Lites, but with a black color scheme and a green visor. Civil Security Ghosts are heavily modified humans, which allows for their ability to cloak. They also do not speak. Ghost are rarely found with weapons, and most of them rely on their PSI Blades, although limited usage of the Shotgun CS-DAZ and Heavy Railgun has been seen. These units are likely infiltration soldiers, used to conduct espionage behind enemy lines, or otherwise are used in situations where stealth is required.

Civil Protector

Currently, the Civil Protector is not seen in the campaign, and not much information is known about the unit type, other than that Civil Protectors are meant to be a supportive unit not designed for frontline combat, likely giving them a Military Police or similar role in the Civil Security rankings. It is unknown where they rank in the faction, but it can be assumed that they rank higher than Lites as Protectors have their own purpose built assault rifle. They have yet to have a fully direct connection to the Civil Security, and therefore remain as a tentative rank.

Civil Security Boss

The highest rank of the Civil Security, Civil Security Bosses serve as tough, heavily armed units which can easily deal with most basic threats. Bosses wear a mixture of Lite and Heavy armor, with a unique red color scheme. Their armor slows them down, but provides excellent protection, and does not impact mobility as much as Heavy armor, giving them the highest health in the campaign out of all Civil Security units. They make heavy use of heavy weapons that the Civil Security have, and start appearing in the later levels; usually seen in pairs. Cover is always advised, due to the fact that Bosses normally come in pairs, and will use pure brute force to eliminate any threat to their base or allies.

Weapons

Pistol CS-Pro

A basic pistol that is used mainly by Civil Security Lites and vehicle operators. It is the standard sidearm of the Civil Security, but is rarely seen beyond the early levels of the campaign.

Assault Rifle CS-RC

A basic, very common assault rifle. The weapon has low recoil and fires rapidly when shooting, and is the medium of the three rifles in the campaign in terms of accuracy and firepower. It is usually used by Lites in the middle of campaign, but Heavies use it at the beginning. An overall average firearm.

Combat Rifle CS-OICW

An accurate, three-round burst rifle manufactured by the Civil Security. The weapon is not used by any enemies in the campaign, but due to its appearance in the hands of a Civil Security Heavy in its original concept art, it could be theorized that it was designed specifically for use by these units.

Shotgun CS-DAZ

A close quarters pump-action shotgun manufactured by the Civil Security that is seen mid-game, and it is a signature weapon of Proxy. It is mostly used by Civil Security Heavies and Ghosts. One Lite is seen using it to fend off a horde of Usurpations in Level 31. It is a rare weapon among the Civil Security ranks.

Lite Railgun v01 CS-HShot

A lighter version of the Heavy Railgun, which is used by commonly used by Lites in the middle of the campaign, while Heavies sometimes use this in the early levels. It is rarely used by Bosses as well.

Heavy Railgun v04 CS-OneSOneK

Almost always used by Heavies and Bosses in the middle/end of the campaign, and rarely by Lites, the Heavy Railgun is an uncommon weapon. It is the only weapon used by all Civil Security ranks, as a single Ghost wields one. On Impossible difficulty, all enemy Heavy Railguns are replaced with Sniper Rifles, therefore any unit carrying a Heavy Railgun will have a Sniper Rifle instead. This does not apply for the Bosses on Level 19.

CS-GaussRifle

A highly accurate gauss rifle which behaves very similarly to the Heavy Railgun, but fires a ray projectile instead, with a longer reload time. It is not found in the campaign, but likely would be used in a similar manner as the Heavy Railgun and Sniper Rifle.

Sniper Rifle CS-YippeeKiYay

An average, highly accurate sniper rifle with an attached laser. It is only used in Impossible mode, where it replaces the Heavy Railgun. Outside of this, it has no other appearance in the campaign.

Rocket Launcher CS-LitBro

An anti-vehicle weapon that fires explosive projectiles, causing splash damage. Used regularly by all ranks, except for Ghosts.

Plasmagun CS-Bloom

An automatic, area of effect energy weapon used by the Lites, Heavies and Bosses. Units using the weapon typically show up in the mid to late sections of the campaign.

CS-BNG

An energy-based explosive launcher that fires a powerful green radioactive projectile. It's mostly used by Bosses, but it is also used by Heavies.

Grenade Launcher CS-SpamThemBaby

A grenade launcher capable of launching small grenades beyond throwing distance. It is used by Lites and Heavies in both late and early levels of campaign.

Teleport Grenade v03 CS-PortNade

A grenade-like device that teleports the player to the location where the grenade detonates. As with most grenades, it is not used by enemies. It is not found in the campaign, either, and is exclusive to Multiplayer.

Portable Shield v07 CS-Quarium

A grenade which on detonation produces a circular shield. These only appear on Impossible difficulty, replacing level 2 BNGs, and therefore are not common to find.

CP-Assault Rifle

An automatic Assault rifle, the CP-Assault Rifle is a rifle comparable to the Assault Rifle C-01r, but seems specifically designed for the Civil Protector unit. It is the only weapon to break the "CS" naming nomenclature, and possibly may not be of Civil Security manufacture.

Grenade C-00n

A standard high-explosive grenade, the C-00n is a fairly common example of Correction Nine technology, carried by Civil Security enemies.

Ray Gun C-01y

A powerful energy shotgun-like weapon, the Ray Gun is used rarely by Heavies and Bosses. Due to the overall rare nature of the weapon, it is very likely that the Civil Security were able to only acquire a fairly limited supply after Correction Nine's collapse.

Assault Rifle C-01r

An automatic, high rate of fire assault rifle, this Correction Nine assault rifle is found being used by Bosses on level 40, and is never seen elsewhere.

Vehicles

Hound Walker-CS

A large, bipedal mech used by the Civil Security, and the protagonist during the middle levels of the campaign. It sports a Hound Walker Cannon which fires rounds similar to the size of the CS-BNG.

Mobile rO81-CS

A high-speed jeep-like automobile used by the Civil Security, and later in the campaign, by the protagonist. It comes equipped with a Drone minigun. Alternatively, the CS-Auto Cannon may be used on Mobiles, but it currently isn't used in the campaign. It is similar in appearance to the Jeep.

Drone

A small drone used somewhat commonly by Civil Security forces. These drones come equipped with either Drone Miniguns or Drone Grenade Launchers. Although not directly manufactured under Civil Security name, they are used (and likely manufactured) by the Civil Security.

Corvette

A larger, more combative drone, the Corvette features a vehicle mounted rocket launcher, which is extremely similar in design to the Rocket Launcher LitBro, and therefore, despite lack of confirmation that the Corvette is operated by Civil Security forces, it can be reasonably assumed they are, to some degree. If this is true, then Corvettes are likely used in a similar role to normal Drones, but in areas needing higher security. Corvettes are only seen in level 41, where they attack the protagonist.

Voice lines

All Civil Security units (except the Ghost) share the same voice lines. The voice actor wished to remain anonymous.

Trivia

  • It is unknown why they are enemies with the main protagonists, as none of their motives have been uncovered.
  • Any weapon that is manufactured by the Civil Security has the CS prefix somewhere in the name of the weapon.
  • Civil Security Heavies appearance is akin to the EDF Troopers from Red Faction: Guerrilla.
  • The Civil Security Lite resembles Master Chief from the Halo trilogy.
  • The Civil Security Lite skin has red and blue versions, exclusive to custom maps and multiplayer only. It is the only Civil Security unit to have Team Deathmatch skins for it.
  • The multiplayer team for Civil Security is spelled "Citizen Security". This may be a developer oversight or intentional.
  • A Civil Security soldier on level 31 may joke, "These aliens remind me of my wife!"
  • The Civil Security are not related to the Human Soldiers from Plazma Burst: Forward to the Past. The Human Soldiers were a group of soldiers stationed on Mars, and therefore are not a part of the Civil Security organization.
  • The Civil Security faction has the highest number of manufactured weapons and vehicles out of any other faction in the entire Plazma Burst Series, and likely more so than all other factions combined.
