Plasma Shotgun
|
The Plasma Shotgun is a shotgun in Plazma Burst 2 that fires three pink plasma projectiles that are similar to those of the Plasmagun CS-Bloom. The Plasma Shotgun is a powerful shotgun that possesses a high damage output at the cost of a lower fire rate comparable to the Shotgun NXS-25 or the Android Shotgun. Like its sister weapon, the Plasmagun, this shotgun fires plasma projectiles which have a very small area of effect upon impact; the tight grouping of the projectiles at short range allows the weapon to blanket an enemy with plasma and its area of effect as a result. Like most shotguns, the grouping of the plasma projectiles spreads out further over range, unlike more precise weapons such as the Alien Shotgun, making the effective range worse across longer distances. The weapon shines best at very close range, where it is a powerhouse in damage, but it can be beat by faster firing weapons such as the Scavenger Shotgun and the Eos Auto Shotgun in direct gunfights. The plasma projectiles are also larger and thus less precise than regular bullet projectiles, which are thinner and consequently can land more precise hits on enemies, thus making the Plasma Shotgun less of a viable option for shooting through precise or narrow openings that bullet weapons could easily fire through. The nature of the projectiles itself also means that this weapon lacks bullet penetration, which makes it useless to shoot through thin cover and objects with and requires the shooter to be within uninterrupted line of sight of the enemy.
The Plasma Shotgun shares the same general rectangular and blocky design that the Plasmagun CS-Bloom has, albeit with minor differences. For instance, the Plasma Shotgun has purple and pink accents rather than the blue accents seen on the Plasmagun. The pistol grip area is tightly cramped like the Plasmagun as well, though the space in the Plasma Shotgun is more limited, tight, and cramped in comparison. The design of the Plasma Shotgun is generally more complex than the CS-Bloom: it has extruding parts in the stock area for example and the weapon has some curves in its shape in comparison to the more basic, angular, and blocky frame that the CS-Bloom has.
Location
The Plasma Shotgun does not appear in the campaign, and is therefore exclusive to custom maps created with the Advanced Level Editor.
